The River cities’ first vocational non-profit charter school, Academy of Building Industries, is located in Fort Mojave. Vocational trade courses offered include carpentry, air conditioning and heating, computer-aided drafting, plumbing, welding and electrical.


Education remains a significant standard of life in Bullhead City, offering two top-rate public school districts, a private Montessori school and two charter schools. More than 4,000 students in Kindergarten through 8th grade are served through the Bullhead City Elementary School District #15 Education in Bullhead City.


The district was established in 1947 in the one-room “Little Red School House, and is now comprised of seven schools – five elementary schools and two junior high schools. The school district continues to grow quickly, which shows by the construction of three of the seven schools in the last seven years. Breakfast and lunch programs and health, counseling and nutritional services are available to each student enrolled in the district, as are Title I, Special Education, Gifted and ELL programs.


Mohave High School, part of the Colorado River Union High School District, offers education to students from 9th through 12th grade and provides a variety of academic programs including the Renaissance Program, Gifted Program, Honors Classes, Child Find Program, On-Site Special Education and a Work Release Program.


Two charter schools are also available in the area – the Accelerated Learning Center for students in Kindergarten through 12th grade and the Academy of Building Industries. The Academy, located in Fort Mohave, provides vocational trade courses for student from the ages of 14 through 21. Western Arizona Regional Medical Center – Bullhead City Western Arizona Regional Medical Center (WARMC) is a 139-bed, Joint Commission Accredited hospital that has been serving Tri-State area residents for more than 25 years. Treating over 30,000 patients a year the hospital continues to grow, change, add technology and prepare for the future.

WARMC has more than 700 employees, a medical staff of 100 physicians and a volunteer force of over 110 individuals, who dedicate thousands of hours to helping patients. This accreditation means WARMC has demonstrated expertise in cardiac patient care as measured by a wide range of stringent criteria. This level of cardiac care is achieved by only 12% of all hospitals in the United States.


WARMC is also one of the nation’s Top Performers on Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America. WARMC was recognized by The Joint Commission as one of 620 hospitals in the U.S. earning the distinction of Top Performer on Key Quality Measures for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance. Valley View Medical Center – Fort Mohave Valley View Medical Center is the Bullhead City/Laughlin area’s newest hospital. It is a full-service, state-of-the-art medical campus with an around-the-clock emergency room, including an on-site air ambulance helicopter. It also has outpatient offices in Bullhead City and Laughlin.


Valley View is accredited by The Joint Commission, licensed as a 90-bed acute care hospital. Each patient is in a private room equipped with cable television, including a special channel with patient information and tips. There are also two adjacent medical office buildings, plus on-campus inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs. Valley View serves the Tri-State area along the Colorado River including Bullhead City, Laughlin and Needles. Valley View’s other expanded services include a PET/CT unit for cancer detection, newly refurbished pool for physical therapy, expanded cosmetic surgery and gastroenterology services, six additional emergency exam rooms, a wound care and hyperbaric center, and a home health program. The expansion also includes a secure, state-of-the-art pediatric unit with six patient rooms, a play room and an isolation room.


The Valley View health system also includes Crossroads Urgent Care, with extended night and weekend hours and the only licensed urgent care center in the southern portion of Bullhead City, and Wide Open M-R-I, an open sided diagnostic imaging office, also in Bullhead City. Two Valley View-affiliated primary care physician offices have opened in Bullhead City and Laughlin as Live Oak Family Medicine.


Valley View has six surgical units and a 12-bed outpatient care unit. A 12-bed critical care unit provides a wide range of life supporting therapies for critically ill patients. Spacious labor and delivery suites are more like hotel rooms than hospital rooms, and each features a fold-down bed so that a family member can comfortably spend the night.


The inpatient and outpatient radiology and imaging center has 4D ultrasound, 16-slice CT-Scan, 1.5 Tesla MRI and nuclear medicine programs that are the envy of big city hospitals. The expanded 12-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit provides a full range of physical, occupational and speech therapy services, including an outdoor therapy courtyard. This award-winning program is beneficial for patients who have had strokes, certain joint replacements, amputations or other traumatic injuries. Valley View has the only hospital-based acute rehabilitation unit in the Bullhead City/Laughlin/Needles area.


Most major private and public insurance programs are accepted at Valley View. No one is ever turned away based on ability to pay.
